Former attorney in the Green Mountain State. He/him.
I know this is asking a lot, but I'd hope that an editor would ask the author who is pretending it doesn't exist?

I love that his whole schtick is that he's merely dispassionately recommending that progressives do what polls tell them to do. Except when the polling suggests something he personally disagrees with, in which case progressives shouldn't follow polling. For reasons.

Star Trek V: a self-indulgent vanity project for William Shatner, but Star Trek. Wait...

Same goes for Star Trek. Star Trek II: A submarine movie, but also Star Trek.

Also, the thrust of this "mistake" was the odds that the case would end up in front of a clearly biased and incompetent judge. Which kinda seems like the real problem?

Genuine question, was there a recent example of someone showing their ass in a Chotiner interview, or is this trend just general appreciation for the genre?

I know my formula is simplistic, but I feel fairly confident positing that it would be cheaper to literally give homeless people cash for rent, and we'd still have money left over to build more housing.

The cost to incarcerate someone varies widely by state, but looks like the lowest is in AR at $23K annually, or ~$1900/mo. Average rent in AR is $1400/mo. You see where I'm going with this.

William F. Buckley wrote Of God and Man at Yale in 1951, exposing the atheist communism that had taken over the Ivy League, and conservatives were so appalled that they had no choice but to continue sending their kids there for the next 70 years.

I'm sorry, but the poop bags just makes this art. This guy will never live it down.

Ha thought this was a guillotine at first glance. This is also good!

I feel like a statement like this should be accompanied by even one citation. Maybe it's true, I don't know! But if the newspaper wants to not look like it's passing off conservative dogma as just accepted truth, maybe substantiate it?
June 19, 2025 at 6:43 PM
Citation on "almost put him over the top again" please?

Hey remember when there was a bunch of protesting in 2020 and reactionary centrists like you thought it would help Trump and then he lost?

Gotta love this coming from the party who thinks it's impossible to explain to their child that a man can love another man.

Ah good call. If I say that I ran out of characters to mention that the 1947 date included the loan payments would you buy it? 😂
April 18, 2025 at 6:14 PM
Worth detailing that France made loans to Haiti at usurious rates to pay the indemnity, which further crippled their economy. By one estimate, the final "payment" was made in 1947 (120 years after it was first imposed). Shout to @mikeduncan.bsky.social for his excellent series on the revolution.
