I can finish my work a lot faster and that’s pretty cool but at the end of the day I feel like I cheated. And that anyone can do this with this technology. I don’t think I’ll be in software much longer…

Not necessarily because I want to, but because I have to. And to be honest, it actually really helps a lot. Instead of staring at my screen for 30 minutes to fix a problem, I can just tell copilot what it’s doing or click on the exception and it will fix the code for me. It’s kind of incredible.

I recall the CTO once saying “make sure you are using copilot when you are coding… or else.” His actual words. So here I am, floating through my job and vibe coding everything as if I never had to learn how to code or go to college. Most of the work I do is vibe coded now.

Unfortunately AI is here to stay. And now that we have a huge Indian team, they don’t need many of us in the US anymore and they let half my team go. I’m still here but… I need to embrace AI in order to keep my job. They keep metrics on who uses AI and who does not.
