The solution they come up with is turning the city into a battle fortress, like automatic defense systems. Only they're not automatic. Viktor will pilot them.
In essence, it's a descent into Viktor losing his humanity - depending on how I wanna end it.
Did write one kickass paragraph still tho:
Viktor stares down at the ‘pilot seat’, the point at which he – only he - can connect to it, connected by wiring and lines that slot into the nodules on his back, where the implants in his spine used to be. He’s done it before, observed how it functions. The rest is the Herald’s work. The position of targets is communicated instantly and precisely into his mind. Almost as though he has eyes everywhere. Their augments feed back to him what targets to protect, everyone else is… well. Dust. Gone in an instant as powerful rays of Hextech-powered light quite literally reduces them to their atomic particles. For all they know, it is painless. Instant. Elimination without suffering or cruelty. It's about as much efficiency the Herald was willing to compromise for his humanity’s sake. A slight surplus in power consumption in exchange for peace of mind. “Are you sure you are alright doing this, Vik?” Jayce asks in an awfully uncertain and fearful tone. “We could still abandon all this. Pack our things and run away together, the way we always fantasized?” Viktor laughs, a hollow, mechanical sound, and when he replies, Jayce can hear both him and the Herald. “Choice is an illusion. We must survive. Piltover must survive.” But what truly makes Jayce’s stomach turn is what he says next. “The glorious evolution shows the way.”

They look over at the central console, a computation unit where all the sensor data, control of all weaponry and defence mechanisms, converges. They’ve given it a name - The Mind of Man. A testament to human ingenuity and the boundless will to live that defines humanity. Its existence feels… anomalous. Like Viktor. Like the fact that they’ve turned their home into a fortress.
