Yeah, that makes a lot of sense! So much so that I spontaneously decided to make this graph contrasting when such preparation happens early in play vs late because apparently that's where my brain is at rn

A red line shows the relation between the two when preparation for something time consuming in play happens mid-session, and a blue line shows what happens when preparation happens early in a similar session. The red line peaks sooner but risks returning to zero after the 'time consuming preparation' starts, while the blue line shows a slower initial build up of arousal but a more sustained, higher peak afterwards.
