I'm using FORGE and Basic Fantasy, 4th Edition. The water leaper can be found in the Basic Fantasy Field Guide 2. It was the closest thing to a giant toad that I could find.

You might want to take a look at the Mythic Game Master Emulator, 2nd Edition, by Tana Pigeon. That book is helpful regardless of genre, and some tables in it are sci-fi specific.
I play mostly fantasy games, but the soloists I know who like sci-fi play Worlds Without Number, Traveler, and Loner.
