there's a tileable, n-2 dimensional permutohedron embedded in every n-dimensional space, with vertices at all coordinate permutations of {1,...,n} — in the hexagon's case case, {1, 2, 3} in a cube spanning [1, 3] on each axis. here's a truncated octahedron similarly embedded in a tesseract:
