According to Mangold, interviewed in Rolling Stone, it was Dylan who wished that the character’s name be changed for the movie. “It was a character who I felt—and I think Bob very much agreed when we talked early on—was the only one who wasn’t a celebrity and an icon in and of themselves with a kind of public persona,” he said. “Everyone else is up for the gauntlet and has been in that game a long time. And Suze was just a real person ... And there was just a feeling for Bob of not subjecting her to that.”

This is a poem written for my OU Creative Writing course final project - one of a series of autobiographical scenes. The scar is almost invisible now, 50 odd years later.
A poem called "A Scar". Bill’s sister – but he was William then – She made this mark, though it has faded with the passing of thirty three years. We have played since lunch, and now Izzy has caught me; she holds me tight, trapped against the wall; tiny shards embedded in dull grey plaster. The bell rings and I move, expecting to be released; but Izzy’s grip is tight. I struggle, not wanting to be censured for lateness. My arm – this left, here – is dragged across the wall. Three parallel cuts (but one, the only one still clearly there, deeper and wider) and my blood is released. I cry out; and Izzy returns to her classroom, across hot tarmac, while I stumble inside, to wash my cuts clean.
