I'm re-reading The Fifth Sacred Thing by Starhawk. Book 1 of a Trilogy.

I'd forgotten how prescient it was, but I'm loving rediscovering the stories and the people and the solutions to things... and of course, the magic. 💞

17 days after taking power in 1933 Hitler fired hundreds of employees from the judiciary, police chiefs, other members of the government, and pressured hundreds more to resign. 13 days after taking power in 2025 Trump has fired hundreds of employees from the judiciary, the FBI (and plans to fire thousands more)n and is pressuring other members to resign. The warning signs are screaming.

It is *the* piece of documentation, along with a birth certificate, that *all* other IDs hinge on- from school and medical records, to drivers license and passport, credit cards, bank accounts, credit scores, mortgages, etc. Erase Social Security records and you can't prove you are who you are, or that you own what you own. This is a potential catastrophe.

Elon Musk staff has been caught plugging in hard drives inside the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), the Treasury Department, and the General Services Administration (GSA). His staff encountered resistance when demanding that Treasury officials grant access to systems managing the flow of more than $6 trillion annually to programs like Social Security and Medicare. Tensions escalated when Musk’s aides were discovered at OPM accessing systems, including a vast database known as the Enterprise Human Resources Integration (EHRI), which contains sensitive information such as dates of birth, Social Security numbers, performance appraisals, home addresses, pay grades, and length of service for government employees. In response to employees speaking out, Musk’s aides locked civil servants out of computer systems and offices, with reports of personal items being searched.

It depends... red for posole and enchiladas and chile rellenos. But green for burritos and stew and burgers. It took about a year of ordering "Christmas" when we moved to NM in the late 70's before I knew my tastes. and even now a good chef can surprise me and make me love their take on things!
If someone says "I don't know why you think this smells so good" Get rid of that person, you don't need that negativity in your life.
