I bought a new laptop like two weeks after Trump won for this very reason. Probably should have added a phone upgrade to that as well, and, as it turns out, some clothes.

I'm not used to thinking Pete makes bad decisions, so this is hard for me, but deluded is kind of how it feels. And I'm not good at the "whatever Pete does will be fine" positivity that some people have. I think I need a couple days to just feel upset about it before I regroup and move on.

I am extremely skeptical that he could be successful in '28, and if he genuinely believes it's a realistic option, I have to say I'm baffled by that. There's a note of hubris to it that feels uncharacteristic of him.

I'm feeling a lot of disappointment and sadness. I respect it's his decision to make, but I don't think it's a good one.

How do we balance the recommendation to "listen to the working class" with the knowledge that some of the things they want would likely require selling out other constituency groups, like women or LGBTQ people, to accomplish?

(Fellow TC resident here--run for Senate, please)

Lmao funniest possible outcome to this whole saga.

Implication being that he himself is not included in that group, Senate seat or not. You know, probably for “reasons.” Oh the whole thing just makes me so angry.

“He’s too good for Senate; it’s beneath him” fully feels like a bad faith attempt to me. If he’s the best messenger we have, why would we not actually want him in the Senate, where any impact he could have would be magnified? I’m sorry he can’t be a Senator tomorrow, but that’s just the way it is.

A tacit admission that he’s better at this than anyone currently in Congress, followed by a maddening insistence that he sacrifice whatever ambitions he might have about actually joining said body so that he can be a glorified staffer. So insulting to say about someone who has been in the Cabinet!

Filling the vacancy left by Manchin. People should have voted for Conor Lamb!

This is why part of me wants him to just launch a campaign already if he's going to do it. I know these things take time to put together, and he might not have even reached a decision yet, but the need is great.

And to everyone who works in the healthcare system. Medicare payments fund our jobs.

Mine expires at the end of ‘26, and I was holding off on renewal until after an international trip I have planned for June. Now I’m worried I made the wrong call. This has all gotten very bad faster than even my very anxious mind predicted.

Stabenow did the same thing. I’m very proud of and grateful to them for leaving when the time was right.
