THANK CHRIST SG is a Samurai weapon. Kinda has to be considering the reliance on SG, but I was real worried

Kinda makes sense from the business side. I highly doubt an R-rated Turtles movie would do well, unless they got the budget right (i.e., low). That feels like a pretty niche market. Sure, the comics can skew more adult, but on-screen has ALWAYS been geared toward younger audiences

So I had to watch Sinners again after this convo. 100% my pick out of the 2. Honestly not sure which is the "better" film, but if you ask me which I'd rather watch again? Sinners, every time. It's just so damn good.

To be fair, I've also been reading a fantasy series (First Law) where the ENTIRE FIRST TRILOGY is essentially focused on developing the characters for the plot avalanche that's coming in books 7-9, so my expectations for a 150 minute movie might be skewed at the moment.

Honestly, I think it's the prologue they could have shortened with Battle. Just give us a LITTLE more time with Leo and daughter before shit goes down. Or just add 10 minutes.

Still, it's high praise that I didn't feel the runtime. We've discussed before my disdain for long movies.

Probably because of THAT scene. You know the one I mean. Those 90 seconds may be one of the best sequences ever put on camera. That's a Coogler special right there. The Creed fight walked so that scene could run.

I REALLY liked Battle, but my reaction coming out of it was basically that. Like, "wow, that was a great movie." My reaction to Sinners was far more visceral. Like I had just come out of something really special.

To be fair, I'm not sure how they could have fit in more characterization. MAYBE shorten the middle segments with the crackdown and protests, but those were clearly serving a purpose.

I think Sinners gets the nod from me because of characters. Battle nails the pacing and cinematography side of things, but the characters didn't have much to them besides "washed out revolutionary," "weird racist soldier," or "daughter who's finding out secrets."

It's live service done right! Easy to ignore if you want, but fun if you want to jump in.

Also reminds me, I REALLY need to play these games. I've owned the trilogy for years at this point

I need to do a replay. Based on memory alone I WILDLY disagree with the 1 vs 2 ranking, but that was like 20 years ago

Also, my favorite is the rare occasion where the menu says “press select to start.” Now you’re just fucking with me, devs.

”Pause” and “the button that doesn’t do anything”

They’re really not gonna do Xillia 2, huh?

I always loved it. The battle system was fun as hell, and I think even the linearity was overblown. Sure, it was no FFXII, but people were seriously forgetting that FFX was almost the exact same structure.

There were a lot of proper nouns, but it wasn't THAT hard. It wasn't Dune or anything

BLOPS 7 MP is fine, campaign is definitely dogshit. BF6 is probably the better game, but I'm too goddamn old to keep track of that chaos, so COD will remain my go-to for getting my ass kicked.

Other than that, been reading Best Served Cold (great) and playing Division 2 (still fun as hell)

LOL, I’m gonna bet it’s something boring as shit. Like they have a disagreement with auditors on whether they should take an impairment against a project or something
November 14, 2025 at 11:58 AM
Well, Valve has also positioned it as competitive with “entry level PC’s” which run close to a thousand. My guess is closer to $800, but it ain’t gonna be cheap.
November 14, 2025 at 11:56 AM
I think IT gets scary props because it attracts a lot of folks who don’t read/watch much horror. The novel is just as much fantasy/sci-fi as it is horror (on purpose), and that seems to be lost in translation usually.

Still generally fun watches though

If that's the case, they're doing some serious gymnastics on their marketing claims, especially when they talk about 4k. Maybe on Solitaire
November 12, 2025 at 9:04 PM
I'd be SHOCKED if that's the case. I'd guess $800 unless they're looking to take a loss on the hardware to drive up software sales.
November 12, 2025 at 8:42 PM
I think it's a great entry point for folks who don't want to mess with all the component stuff when it comes to PC. But if you've got one, I doubt the price point will make sense. Probably close to a thousand, right? Unless they decide to take a loss to get more Steam customers
