Attending the recent Hispanic Leadership Summit at the United Nations was a powerful reminder of what representation looks like in action.

Leadership, ownership, equity and visibility are not abstract goals. They’re the foundation of lasting change.

Someone once took the time to teach me accounting, and it changed how I saw everything in money and work.

That experience taught me that when you invest in learning, you build confidence, clarity, and the freedom to choose your own path.

Knowledge is the kind of return that compounds for life.

I never planned on a career in finance. What changed everything was access to education and people who saw potential before I did.

STEM and financial education open doors to confidence, stability, and mobility. Talent is everywhere. Opportunity still isn’t.

Someone once took the time to teach me accounting. Not because they had to, but because they believed in me.

That changed my career and how I see leadership and access. The best leaders don’t just manage people. They share what someone once shared with them.

Talent is universal. Opportunity isn’t.

Understanding money brings more than stability. It builds confidence.
Financial literacy gives people the clarity to plan, not just react — and that’s what turns knowledge into agency.

Big news! I participated in a new Oprah Book Club filmed in NYC. The first episode is out now. I’m not into celebrity culture, but I admire Oprah’s view of reading as a way to build empathy and leadership. Maybe pick up a book that changes your perspective!

Nobody figures out money or leadership alone. The best mentors I’ve had shared not just career advice but money lessons too. Passing those on can change someone’s path for the better.

As I work toward my CFP certification, I’m reminded daily that it's driven by these factors more than any others.

Hispanic Heritage Month is about more than recognition. It’s a call to invest in others and mentor, sponsor and open doors. The best way to honor heritage is to create systems that help the next generation thrive.

Early in my career I tied financial success to personal worth. Over time I learned that stewardship is about stability and choice. The advice I wish I had heard sooner: money is a tool, not an identity. What financial advice do you wish you had learned earlier?

Everyone starts with an A.

For me, leadership begins with trust. When people feel safe and supported, they often surprise you with what they’re capable of. And if they fall short, accountability is already built in because expectations were clear from the start.

Every career is built on someone else’s trust.

For me, one was Charlotte Bowman. She trusted me to step into a controller role before my résumé said I was ready. That changed my path.

Who opened a door for you? Tag them and share your gratitude.

These #kind words remind us that no one should wait for #validation to feel worthy. #LGBTQ and #underrepresented communities deserve spaces where they can live fully, not shrink themselves. True care means honoring every identity as valid, powerful, and worthy of #thriving.

On #WomensEqualityDay, I’m reminded that the last time I had a male boss was in 2006. Since then, women leaders have shaped my career with empathy, resilience, and vision. At REFORM, I’m proud to serve on a new exec team led by Jessica, CEO. When women lead, organizations thrive.

As a #FirstGenGrad who immigrated at 12 and worked full-time through college, money was about survival, not strategy. No one explained #credit or #401(k)s. I learned late. Early #FinancialAwareness changes lives and builds agency. Everyone deserves that.

Honored to join the #HispanicStar membership, a network advancing opportunity and visibility for the #LatinoCommunity. This is a chance to uplift the stories, struggles, and successes that shaped us. I’m excited to learn, give back, and help build a future our community deserves.
