Yeeeep, there are jokes cut from Simpsons episodes too. Episodes of Futurama on Hulu also have cut / edited jokes.
The weird thing is that the jokes they cut don’t fall in the “didn’t age well category”. My guess is they were cut to make time for more ads without people noticing the runtime change.

I’d argue that one of the factors contributing to TSOT is science illiteracy, and your work as a science communicator to get the public excited about things like Ganymede is a lot more effective in improving TSOT than endless kvetching about TSOT.
