Maybe it's because man kept killing their predator, now the ecosystem is out of order.

But I do appreciate the sentiment, that was really sweet.

Saving the world would imply I like humans much more than I do XD
I honestly just want to tell a story about a dragon name Psu.

Right, and I feel that adding media that flavors 'heavy topics', without using similar iconography methods to also flavor those 'heavy topics', but instead uses shocking imagery alongside rather appealing and joyous tone- it makes me feel unsettled because of what I know that can do to the psyche.

Also please forgive me, I did not mean to make any assumptions that your child is unsympathetic. My argument comes from what I hear from trauma therapists and other parents dealing with similar issues. As well as being an artist who wants to create a piece of work that targets ALL ages.

I am glad that the issue hasn't come to your backyard yet, but that doesn't mean it is not happening.
I have my own accounts where I have had kids, teens and young adults, tell me that their rather unsympathetic and sometimes cruel actions are justified based on what they see in media.
It happens.

I feel like- A creator has a responsibility for their creation.

Parents are responsible for their children.
Artist their art.

If a scientist creates a dangerous biological pathogen in a lab, and it gets out, are they not to blame? Or do we just say they were letting their creativity flow?

this is what she is referring to.

I feel that, at the end of the day, that is what @msmagus.bsky.social is trying to say. I'll be, aggressively XD but that is my wife for ya lol.

I see her concern come from how media that uses similar tactics has molded the current generation into be rather unsympathetic to others or themselves.
March 22, 2025 at 11:39 PM
Well not fully, your responsibility comes when you are creating the piece. I feel like a lot of modern artist forget the fundamentals of iconography, and how we can tell and show stories through symbols and media- without actually showing it.

I feel more times than not, it is done for shock alone.
March 22, 2025 at 11:28 PM
Well yes of course. But the argument still stands.

If one has a responsibility for their creation, so should the other- even if the other's media is meant to test the ethics and morals of society.

Is that not what one reason for iconography is, to show something without showing it?
March 22, 2025 at 11:25 PM
As an artist I disagree.
IF you have a responsibility for your creation in this world, ie your child. Then so do I- my art.

I was taught that yes, Artist are ones who test the boundaries of ethics and question morals, but we still have a responsibility as to what we make.

Would you say that a parent is responsible for a child- something they create?
