Adding some sweetness to counter all the bad news. My neighbor sent me a pic of "Precious" staying cool on a hot day. She is one of the ~25 feral cats that he and I take care of.

An orange cat is sound asleep on his back on a couch with his back legs & tail dangling off the front of the couch. He's against a throw pillow with a logo from a job I had in the early 90s as producer of a stock market trading game called Final Bell. I was called The Market Maven & the pillow says "The Market Maven Wants You". The couch is covered in old sheets to protect it from cat fur & claws.

LOL! I read that travelers now (starting in 2025) need a completed ETIAS form to enter the EU. So I completed the online form & received this message:
Message after completing a required ETIAS application form for tourist entry to the EU: THANK YOU! UPDATE: ETIAS will start operations in the last quarter of 2026. No action is required from travelers at this point. The European Union will inform about the specific date for the start of ETIAS several months prior to its launch. All personal information has been deleted.

One of the leases DOGE decided to cancel is the lease for Skeen-Whitlock Building in Carlsbad, New Mexico, a 90,000 square foot facility which manages the nation’s only storage area for DOD-created nuclear waste and the only operating deep geologic nuclear waste storage facility in the world. It’s the facility where they process the nuclear waste before putting it in the super deep nuclear storage hole. For emphasis: DOGE wanted to lease to a third party the only building in America that currently processes nuclear waste. You couldn’t make up this level of stupidity if you tried.
