Microclimate of all buildings depends on various factors, yet many traditional buildings and historic churches can be cool spaces. Air circulation and material choices help.
@historicengland research is a reminder that many adaptations have been to keep heat in...

Long overdue visit to a collection today, not open for general visits, made me think of the recently opened V&A East Storehouse. The range of views on the developments there and international contrasts are fascinating plus people wanting to see 'behind the scenes'.

A good day at the Tower for @heritagealliance.bsky.social Heritage Day 2025. My notes seem to have been developing a new code to mark points of interest for different contexts! Well done @heritagelizzie.bsky.social @carolelsouter.bsky.social @delphinejb.bsky.social and all of team!

Good to join a really interesting Historic England and Humanise campaign roundtable discussion this week on wellbeing and emotional connection to buildings/place, incl. the historic environment.
It took place in the fascinating Heatherwick Studio.

Organic is the #museum30 prompt today, and it is the start of #nationaltreeweek as well as St Clements day. Interesting the links between all three in museum/heritage work and interests.

SAVE Britain's Heritage campaign for the M&S building in Oxford Street - #heritage, #sustainability, carbon use of different options - and some exciting examples of new uses for large department stores were all covered in Henrietta Billings' talk this evening. A good one to end the series!

Today's #museum30 prompt is #create.
So much work in #heritage sites and #museums around creating space, experiences, learning opportunities, interpretation and working with many others to do so. These cards were part of a staff/volunteer thank you a couple of years ago.

Today's #museums30 prompt is bug.
A hard one, as for many collections the aim is to keep bugs out, especially from items of natural fibres.

Museums are the places for many connections. Displays can open up many different discussions, e.g. here with the Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) altar.

Really enjoyed recent visit to 'Medieval Women in their own words'. So much variety, including the Luttrell Psalter from Lincs. (1325-40). Bringing in the harvest.
