Animism is a network of interconnected consciousnesses. Consciousness has always been seen cosmologically as deeply interconnected and interdependent by most animist societies. It’s not a car engine or a computer.

For thousands and thousands of years since the dawn of time humans have been animists. If you lined up all of human existence, the period we’ve been into individualism and materialism as a cosmology would barely even register as a speck at the end of the line.

It is so silly of modern western humans to ascribe our mode of seeing the world (scientific materialism), to something like consciousness.

The idea that we can manufacture true consciousness in this materialist mode, that humans have only had for the past few hundred years, is ridiculous.

Consciousness is fundamentally animate in nature - meaning it is alive - and that aliveness is not independently existent, but reliant on a whole web of consciousnesses.

Consciousness is not an individual thing, consciousness is collective.

There’s things I find bristle my feathers a bit about the deifying emperors thing, but overall the general sense of it all is something I long for in the states.

Ah, same! - but because I’m an animist for me it would be “knowing you are welcome and seen by the entire web of life, and knowing the entire web is changed by your existence, and your existence is changed in return”

Synchronicities and meaning-making are emergent in reciprocal relationships!

I think it’s always been this loud. We are just learning to listen better.

If you hadn’t set up the conditions of going to the museum regularly this wouldn’t have happened (I think it probably would have happened on another way) - but you can’t force that actual magical moment to happen.

You can influence these things but you can’t force them to happen.

Let’s say you’ve been going to the same museum for weeks.

And then you lose your job and pray for help, and when you go back that week you see something new in the same old painting that changes your whole perspective
