This is "my" garden, in that it's a public garden at the Cleveland Botanical Garden and I volunteer in it. Many of these historical roses are the same roses planted in 1969, when the garden was installed. In Cleveland, you gotta be tough. These ladies WILL survive the polar vortex.

When your half husky just loves the polar vortex, and will NOT come inside. Too many voles to hunt.

There seem to be a lot of whining billionaires out there talking about how we need “masculine energy”. I guess they weren’t lucky enough to have a Dad like mine. He taught me that masculine energy protects the weak, speaks truth to power and disciplines its own ego to serve something better.

The daughters and I went out to Cloak and Dagger, in Tremont, to console ourselves. Behold: Felix Felicis, aka Liquid Luck. Strong notes of Granny Smith apples, thyme and ginger, decor with gold leaf. It doesn’t, to quote Casablanca, take the sting outa being occupied. But it might help.
