3) SPARK THE ELECTRIC JESTER 3 (2022)
Spark the Electric Jester 3 (2022) - Everything from 2 has been improved on right away, with better looking visuals that actually make some fun choices in presentation (albeit too many static effects in some parts), much more engaging level design with some good exploration to be done, and stronger combat even if they did get rid of power-ups and the mid-movement parry. - A nice selection of new mechanics, with a big focus on grind rails but also the odd vehicle level, which is pretty cool. A lot of the rail and vehicle sections do have long stretches of nothing really happening, though. There are also some levels with different clear conditions, but they’re all pretty much optional. - Story goes some kind of insane places, they really focused in on that and it’s very cool when things finally make some sense. Script is a bit rough, but I don’t think English is this guy’s first language so it’s okay. - A vastly improved sequel that turned itself into a really fun game with its own cool ideas, if you only play one Spark game it should be this. Official Serenity Rating: 4.5/5

2) SPARK THE ELECTRIC JESTER 2 (2019)
Spark the Electric Jester 2 - The style of the first game has completely shifted into 3D and visually you can kinda tell it’s a first attempt, but when it works it does have its charms. The shift did also make power-ups less interesting, and combat is kind of a button mashing fest, but parrying is still fun to do. - Very similar to a Dreamcast Sonic game in all of its presentation (including a sick vocal track for bosses), but it also functions about as well as those games too, which I can forgive because it’s funny and the developer was still learning how to make a competent 3D game. - They also made an actual okay storyline this time, I quite enjoy Fark as a protagonist who’s kind of like a mix of Metal Sonic and Shadow the Hedgehog (the Edgy power-up even makes you skate in this one) - It’s generally clear that it’s a first draft of what would eventually become Spark 3, being flawed and rather on the short side, but it’s cool enough that I am very excited to play the next game. Official Serenity Rating: 3.5/5
