The Arsenal [history] - Comfortably Numb searching my Yvy Marane'y
Most happy 63rd Birthday to former #Arsenal defender Chris Whyte, a local Islington boy who joined the club aged 15 in 1977 as a schoolboy.

One of the trailblazers of black players, Chris stayed at the club til 1986 and featured 113 times for the Gunners scoring eight goals.

"Wherever James went, three Leeds men were sure to go"

On this day 1929 The #Arsenal debut for the great Alex James as the Gunners defeated Leeds United 4-0 at the Highbury.

261 games, captain of the club, four League titles, two FA Cups & truly one of the greatest ever Gunners.

75 years ago today Jack Kelsey's #Arsenal journey began as he was signed from Winch Wen. Now, I wasn't lucky enough to meet him at a club shop, but so many of you have met him, chatted with him and everything I've read, heard of him telss me that Jack was really a lovely person.

On loan from The #Arsenal, goalkeeper Karl Hein, 22, has started both of Real Valladolid's League games in La Liga. The Estonian kept a clean in his first game as Valladolid beat Espanyol 1-0, kept his place and tasted the atmosphere of Bernabéu as Real Madrid defeated Valladolid 3-0.

Never seen this photo of young Joe Hulme - born on this day 120 years ago in 1904 - at Blackburn. For The #Arsenal, Joe played 374 games and scored whopping 125 goals between 1926-37. He won three League titles and twice the FA Cup and later became a journalist with The People.

On this day 1928 The #Arsenal manager Herbert Chapman introduced shirt numbering for the first time as the Gunners lost a League game 2-3 away at Sheffield Wednesday. Chapman was however immediately told afterwards by the FA to desist. Sorry about the poor quality in paper clip.

The very first time [Woolwich] #Arsenal and Aston Villa met in a competetive match was 120 years ago in October 1904. Newly promoted into the top flight for the first time, the Gunners won 1-0 and this match marked the all time record crowd at Manor Ground; 32,850. #AVLARS

The #Arsenal's most famous victory against Aston Villa at Villa Park came on December 14th, 1935 as the Gunners thrashed Villa 7-1.

Not only the result, but Arsenal's striker Ted Drake scored all seven goals for the Gunners, a record that still stands today. #AVLARS

If you're interested in The #Arsenal's history and stats like I am, here's my two 'bibles' that I use the most:

A Complete Record by late Fred Ollier (RIP) &

The Complete Record by Josh James, Andy Kelly and Mark Andrews.

Highly recommended.
