Foiled again: I Happened onto your post the same day I visited the Markel building in Richmond (1965.) Designer Jamgochian claims the inspiration was a foil-wrapped baked potato. Each floor wrapped in a single sheet. See:https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/the-markel-building-richmond-virginia

Stockholm Park with Playing Children, 1889, by Hilma af Klint, shortly after her academic training, and before the 1906+ abstract paintings that she is now known for.

Yes. Warm spaces. Excellent lighting. Several framed views to the landscape. (Nature is art too!) Works from the old building never looked better. Super-high ceilings of some galleries make interesting bird’s-eye views but also can dwarf the art. Spaces intersect in ways that want to be explored.

A modest and attractive facade. The terracotta looks like it might be from an early 20th-century catalog, because it seems to simplify designs of that time such as Louis Sullivan cartouches for the 1908 Owatonna bank.

My friends are excited about the CNN live broadcast of Clooney’s Broadway performance of Good Night and Good Luck. Many aspects of this remind me of “The Golden Age of Television.”

Be sure to see the (poorly named) @citymuseum.bsky.social before you die. In St. Louis MO. Never seen a space so effectively induce play in people of all ages & types. Founding geniuses were Bob & Gail Cassilly.

In 1980, “Channel 1” subverted TV by turning it into abstract kinetic art. The cheap device pixelated your CRT into 88 squares responding to the video beneath. It was a sidehustle of Carl Loeffler and other artists associated with La Mamelle in San Francisco. monoskop.org/Carl_E._Loef...
