Google suggests it's an African Crested porcupine - different from the ones we have in Maine, which have more quills on their wee heads (as seen on my avatar) and also less healthcare coverage.

They are indeed lovely, and have taken over my entire instagram account. At Bowdoin some students are apparently referring to me as "the porcupine guy".

I love porcupines! Is this one native to Japan?
