The zeitgeist has changed. Feels like we are in times too serious for this type of ideals.

It’s like repeating and engage with opinion pages of the newspaper rather than seeing the world through news reporting. Podcasts gives the feeling of sense making, the illusion of being learned.

It is a point of inspiration rather than conclusion.

People skip the process of integration by questioning, comparing to other perspective, putting them in context. This is what scholars and critical thinkers do.

The problem with podcasts is that the hosts might be very articulate and makes complex materials accessible. Once you understand it, you feel more learned. But that knowledge has not yet been integrated in depth, just enough for you to rearticulate them. You feel smarter.

If they really cared, they have enough money to transform Seattle, support artists and civic projects and they would be revered. Instead, culture to them is just another shopping spree and LARPing.

As Kara Swisher said, “these people are so poor, all they have is money.” Sad.

The difference with other AI products is that at least the experience is less broken. I am reacting to a train of thought, that I can take apart and edit or dive deep with, not fragments from the web powered by unknown parameters that I need to assemble together.

Visiting those sites often times makes me feel like a have to go to a busy flea market. Trying to fend of the distractions and sort out the chaos.

Other social networks feels like they induce a kind of exhaustion and tiredness with me. Mainly because I have to invest a lot of effort in sorting out the noise that are engagement bait, or recommended content that are not relevant to me.

It's like going to a well curated store like Uniqlo or a Banana Republic. At the end of each session, I feel like I know a bit more.
