Sidebar: Fair to say min/max is less the issue and more meta-gaming? Every player should feel—esp if it fits the fiction—emboldened to make their PC as powerful/feature-full as possible.

Got it. Eolay comes closest, but unclear if it’s pure hub/spoke as it’s unfinished. Phandalin for D&D, as John said.

My mind is on business models, which is why I conflated the two. I think hub/spoke as a design decision can be ideal as a business decision. Form<>function.

Finally, there’s @vestibulepress.bsky.social, who have a strikingly coherent world in Eolay that's being released in small, careful modules (which I believe are still in beta).

@bobworldbuilder.bsky.social has Helfast Spire, which started with Daggerheart, is expanding into Shadowdark, and then (possibly, based on demand) expanding back to Daggerheart:

There’s @undergroundoracle.com, with Foxfire. They’re taking a membership-based approach instead of pay-as-you-go:

@artificerind.bsky.social has Skies of Calopa, a world of steampunk airships. He’s particularly adept with design, so there are well-crafted assets as part of his marketing funnel:

I want to talk a little about Skies of Calopa, and how YOU can help make this new airship-focused Daggerheart campaign happen.

Tuck into this thread, and get ready to plot your own course through the clouds (or brave the lands) of my world:

There's @carloscisco.bsky.social, of course. He spells out his release strategy for Pistol Heart here:

A few examples come to mind. (And you probably know all of them :)

How well they execute is TBD, but they have promising foundations—and slightly different business models, which is an important part of the grand experiment):

All of this to say—looking forward to the video!

Finally, for players, Hub/Spoke helps them grow into the world while supporting the GM and designers. The core of Daggerheart is co-creation—and there’s no reason that can’t extend to the implicit agreement that, by earnestly playing and giving feedback, they’re co-creating the world, too.

This try-before-you-buy also cuts down on unnecessary costs. If the first Frame was free and the second $9—the $60 Kickstarter is a usable investment rather than yet another laminated doorstop.
November 15, 2025 at 10:24 PM
For GMs, a Hub/Spoke lets them test a Frame to see if the tone/mechanics fit at their table without engineering. And knowing they can expand into the hub is reassuring, if not satisfying. If they join the designers from the onset, they have the pleasure of helping steer and grow the world.
November 15, 2025 at 10:24 PM
If things continue to grow, they can build a module or Kickstart a book knowing they’ve built a following.

This approach takes some dexterity, but it greatly reduces risk and costs. (And ego.)
November 15, 2025 at 10:24 PM
For creators, they can test an idea with a Frame, see if it sticks, and use the spoke to ground the hub. From there, they can test additional Frames and build out the hub’s minimum viable canon.

Late to this convo, but a few extra nuggets.

I’ve noticed several designers moving to Hub and Spoke. I think it solves problems for creators, GMs, and players.
