In those situations I’d generally add in an appropriate verb eg ‘to make’, ‘to get’, ‘to become’, to show etc

Not if “to” is the linking word.
If you do see it, it’s because the definition is a verb and it *is* considered acceptable to append “to…” in front of the definition to make the infinitive form of the verb. But in those cases “to…” is part of the definition i.e. “WP” “to verb”

Rarely seen as two regular sentences. More often seen when first part is a question, so a ‘?’ is used… otherwise I would lean towards a semicolon
