The disturbingly familiar notion here is that somewhere atop of Google, someone had an idea to make the G use gradient colours and ordered it to be done. That is never how this works. it’s more likely a designer had an idea, demonstrated it and it went up the chain for approval.

Remarkable, because it predates human existence. The hominins that existed were more primitive ancestors, such as australopithecines, considered part of the evolutionary lineage leading to Homo, which includes modern humans. It emerged roughly around 2.5 to 2.8 million years ago.
