This gets even more evident the more specialised a job becomes. The irony of hyper inclusive hiring practices is that intangible facets become even more important than they would otherwise. University is more important than ever, and if you want to enter politics you need at least 3/4 years of it

I think this is partly due to how highly orchestrated and structured recruitment has become over the years. The dial has shifted from learning on the job to being obsessed with prerequisites. It's very hard to enter any industry without having some experience in it before or some petty qualification
