#CarletonU 's latest policy update for the Responsible Conduct of Research includes a new clause requiring any use of generative AI to be explicitly disclosed. Excellent move!
5.2 Researchers must be transparent to avoid misrepresentation of AI-generated content as individual ideas or original work. Acknowledgement includes the citation of the use of an AI Tool by specifying the tool’s name, version, and developer. Guidelines for the appropriate use of Generative AI models in different disciplines, will continue to evolve and will dictate appropriate use.

Thanks for sharing this. I was diagnosed at 47 (no kids; I somehow clued in by myself).

I used this plot in a talk recently [from E. O’Nions et al., The Lancet Regional Health Europe 29, 100626 (2023)]:

Diagnosis rates for boys max out at a little more than 4% of population in the 10-14 and 15-19 year ranges. Rates for girls are dramatically lower (this is mostly due to gender bias in referrals to assessment). For age groups above 30 years, the diagnosis rates are minuscule -- the vast majority of autistic people in these age ranges remain undiagnosed.

And speaking of Angstroms (the approximate size of an atom), in 2016 I got to visit the Angstrom Cafe at the University of #Uppsala in #Sweden, where Angstrom was once a faculty member.

(Their beverages are not unusually small. 😉)

I normally just ignore crackpot emails these days, but this writer sounded like he had a genuine question. Nope, turns out he just wanted to mansplain to me how E=mc^2 must be bullshit because of... some incoherent ramblings about the strong force? #PhysicistProblems

Today's #Physics reading: this classic 't Hooft paper (and a couple of others) from the mid-1970s. In this paper 't Hooft showed that the Bell-Jackiw anomaly (which is responsible for pi0 -> 2 photons) gives rise to nonperturbative baryon and lepton number violation in the weak interactions. ...
