There are those who have long been convinced that Edgar Wright has fallen off, and not made a good or great film ever since he stopped working with Simon Pegg for reasons unknown.

So you can go see #TheRunningMan, and decide for yourself whether it adds any more fuel to that particular fire.

The most I'll say #OnHere without going into Spoiler Territory is that #TheRunningMan really dropped the ball with how it used Katy O'Brian, who deserved more and deserved better than what she gets in the film, which really left me feeling like "THAT'S IT?!?!"

Glen Powell's performance is a good one, but much like GLADIATOR 2 tried to do with Paul Mescal, #TheRunningMan really wasn't great at convincing me that the lead character has fearsome, terrifying levels of fury that would make The Hulk take a backward step, no matter how often the film says this.

Say what you will about the Schwarzenegger version of #TheRunningMan, but that film went all-out with its version of the story being told, and the 2025 version can't say the same.

Like how Kubrick's THE SHINING failed as a faithful adaptation, but as a horror movie that stayed twisting the knife?

#TheRunningMan has some entertaining moments, but it isn't nearly as good or as effectively satirical as it could and should be, especially with Edgar Wright in the director's chair, and it doesn't take full advantage of its talented cast by giving them enough to really sink their teeth into.
