Noooo!

It was November 6, but it was a “Juliette Lewis or Woody Harrelson” row, so you might not have used him at all.

Yeah “top seller” alone is, on average, a detriment to aesthetic and/or bracket success. I just happen to believe LIKE A PRAYER deserved to buck that trend.

I used to know the guy who started the “Dudeism” religion. Wonder if you’d find him irritating.

Also, how much will tickets have to be (to cover the venue rental/chair set-up costs)?

I feel somehow both validated and outraged that the song that crushed my main did this poorly in the final groups.

You and Tim Burton

My theory: 95% of such comments about the personal behavior of performers in a given match are made by people who’d have no desire to vote for a given match anyway, because they don’t like the music as well as the competition. So when it comes to music they do like, they (we?) turn a blind eye.

Me too. I like both a lot but don’t absolutely love either so my first instinct is “what has a better chance of beating my least favorite LP still in play next round?” But since those chances are slim anyway, might as well go for the more well-rounded final 8 (by the metric that matters more to me.)

I’m largely immune to their charms as MCs so I think I actually like this one better than CHECK YOUR HEAD, ILL COMMUNICATION or HELLO NASTY. Haven’t heard others in too long (if ever) to compare.

Perhaps; in the U.S. LIKE A PRAYER went double-platinum in May 1989, triple by January 1990 and ultimately quadruple-platinum in 1997.

Compare to PAUL’S BOUTIQUE: Certified gold in September 1989 and platinum not until 1999.

Tells me a much bigger share of Madonna’s sales were likely in 1989.

Assuming no surprise upset tomorrow, this match will answer the questions:

Will our Elite Eight include any non-US artists besides The Cure?

Or, alternatively, will it include any women besides Kim Deal?

More than Anna May Wong, apparently!

Sometimes commercial and artistic merit overlap. Usually they don’t. LIKE A PRAYER is one instance where they do, in my opinion (tempted to say PAUL’S BOUTIQUE’s initial pressing is another, but I’m not THAT down on the album.)

Feel like this is the second or third time I’ve seen her show up in one of these, which is way too may times for someone who I can only remember being in two movies (one of which was ineligible today.)

Can’t believe it beat my 12-pointer by two points.

I thought Filming Othello was in your top 100 of all time…

Dan Hedaya should have been Oscar-nominated though! (Am I close?)
