JLPT grammar guides are looking pretty awesome! There are guides for all JLPT levels. All grammar points are grouped into logical clusters for improved retention. The grammar quiz tools have spaced repetition.

You can definitely start reading earlier than most people think.
We made YoMoo! for that exact purpose. It is in beta testing now, but any Android user is welcome to join the testing program.
