I think ultimately they want a guy in the stick Spielman mold, but felt compelled to fire Rick bc he had some bad drafts and was there for the culture falling apart. I think they thought they needed to mix it up but they probably regret firing Rick.

Well what else are they gonna do? He either gets better (probably not but possible) or he doesn’t and they plan for a new change this off-season. The right time to fix this was in the off-season, and they bungled that.

The Jurgens thing is the worst example IMO. If you don’t trust your backup OL to start, they shouldn’t be on the roster. That’s what the practice squad is for!

I wonder about this a lot - do you think they get so optimistic about certain players potential that they blind themselves to the reality of what they are now? Do they maybe over estimate their ability to coach em up? I get needing to think for the fire and now, but this is bad!
