Selling subsidized hardware is a big ask especially when it's just a pc, but they should've negotiated a better price considering they are selling stale 4 year old AMD leftovers.
But current ram prices are another issue as well.

My gripe is how have they learned NOTHING from the Deck? The only reason it was so successful despite being the first, is that no matter how many handhelds came to market, Deck was still the cheapest.

Competition would be great but that's not a realistic price for those components, and since it's a pc valve can't rely on software sales to subsidize hardware costs. Especially with current ram prices there's no chance it's cheaper than a PS5.

I've seen it said Valve is aiming for pc pricing, not console pricing...
Need to see benchmarks before I decide how I feel about it. Maybe without windows bloat it's gonna perform way better
