Tumblr trained me years ago not to make original posts because people would find them, they’d get reblogged into new contexts, and suddenly you’re dealing with hate and dog piling and I had no control over it

honestly, given the size of fandom and the internet these days I think it makes sense before giving people more exposure; over here I rarely repost something if I’m the first and always think before reposting a friend just bc they’ll be getting an unknown audience

at this point I really just have surrendered to life’s vagaries and I will enjoy and do whatever I feel moved to at the time and there’s no urgency or need to any of it
but. today I read a sentence I wrote 4 years ago that still felt very good and very real. that is something.

I don’t even know if there will be another Thing I write about, maybe I’ll write my own Thing finally, I don’t know. The last time I took such a long break it was to let my original fiction muscles come back, and they never did before I found a new Thing.

I’ve been reading a lot of pro fiction, much of it classics, and letting myself watch or read or play whatever interests me, and I’ll feel a flare of interest and then it dies out. I’m not sure how much of is hormones, brain chemistry, fatigue, stress, age, and just not finding the right Thing
