I don't know if there's anyone out there who cares as much as me about being able to look up the detailed camera specs of every iPhone Pro model ever released

but if there is then I will gladly share this with you :D

The Fujifilm Frontier SP-3000, a literal work station dedicated to film scanning from the late 90s/early 00s.

I often wonder what a station dedicated to digital photography workflows could look like...

Picture captured with BayerCam.app on iPhone 17 Pro @ ISO 640, processed with a Portra LUT in LUTLab.app

The noise from these tiny sensors can actually be quite charming when working with raw data as a starting point

Analyzing the characteristics of the Ontario LUT by rossandhisjpgs.com with LUTLab.app

LUTLab.app is entirely free, but if you're kind enough to leave a tip in the app, as a little easter egg you'll unlock a theme switcher with alternate appearances for the app
November 21, 2025 at 11:44 PM
LUTLab.app lets you visualize, study, preview, and convert LUTs super easily, from your iPhone/iPad/Mac, so you can use them with the increasing number of camera apps that let you shoot with LUTs baked in-

such as !Boring Camera, Moment Pro Camera II, Kino, and more.

LUTLab.app is set in the fantastic Server Mono typeface by the Internet Development Studio of Seattle, Washington @internetstudio.bsky.social

much love to them for releasing such a wonderful piece of work under the open font license
November 20, 2025 at 12:10 AM
LUTs are open format, easy to share, can be edited & created by any one, cross compatible between apps -

It’s no accident they are so popular in the video world and we should push them to become standard in the photography world as well.

Doing my part by releasing LUTLab.app for free 🫡

New app in the PhotoTools.app series dropping this week (app store review willing).

This one's been fun to work on and super handy to use day to day, I'm excited to put it out there for everyone to use.

Entirely free, runs on iOS/iPadOS/macOS

Oof, I don't use macOS Tahoe on my work machine yet, so I only just saw the Preview app update... what a crazy loss of information density for the EXIF pane.

Well, good thing there's EXIF Inspector from PhotoTools.app 😄

Well the App Store’s only been around for 17 years, better late than never I guess

Did you know that portrait photos taken with your iPhone store all sorts of depth & semantic maps?

Matte Viewer lets you view & export them-the just released v2 for iOS/iPad OS/macOS brings support for drag & drop import/export, multi windows, kb shortcuts, and more

Get it for free: phototools.app

We are living in a three-dimensional physical world, and it's a quirk of mammalian evolution that we are trichromats; it works out nicely for visualizing color spaces.

The mesmerizing work of Sergei Prokudin-Gorsky - by far the best known and most prolific trichrome photographer - inspired me to create Trichromy.app over 10 years ago now.

Update 1.6 for Trichromy.app is out~

Experiment with the oldest color photography technique, right on your iPhone!

Truth be told this is my least successful app, but I love using it so I can't help but keep updating it 😅

EXIF Inspector: a compact metadata viewer I wrote to solve a personal need.

Runs on iOS/iPadOS/macOS, with support for drag & drop/multiple windows/kb shortcuts/file system + Photo Library integration, and more.

Part of PhotoTools.app.
And as always: free, no ads, no tracking, no bullshit.

The larger telephoto sensor on the iPhone 17 Pro (1/2.55") really does make for a nice increase in quality coming from the iPhone 15 Pro Max (1/3.5").

Combined with the slightly wider (& better for my taste) 4× means I've found myself shooting way more with it

(app is BayerCam.app)

Upgraded to an iPhone 17 Pro after 2 years on a 15 Pro Max.

I always found the 5× way too tight for my liking, so far the 4× feels much better

(the camera app is BayerCam.app)

If you're a designer who wants inspiration when it comes to pushing the enveloppe for expressive interface design, I highly recommend looking at synthesizers

We just released a new emulsion for AgBr.app: K17, based on an early 00's Infrared Konica film stock

In November and December, we intend to drop 2 new films to finish the year; and we're working hard on a new feature that we'll be very excited to share with you :)
October 29, 2025 at 12:57 AM
We made AgBr.app very small so you can fill your storage with photos 🧡

Concerts are a great example of a photography situation where the iPhone's auto focus/auto exposure will kind of fall apart and make it hard to capture the exact shots you want.

Locking ISO/shutter speed/focus in BayerCam.app is a breeze and made this event super easy to capture

Update 1.6 for trichromy.app dropping later this month
