Sorry... what?

Sunday morning and all is peacful UNTIL the fecking neighbour [they of the massive 18 months to build extension and attendant mental torture] brings out the industrial strimmer. This is a regular occurrence and I may cry.

Can't help but notice how very *perpendicular* everything is at the moment.

My current gardening bestie is this handsome chap. Whilst his vocabulary is perhaps lacking, what he does say makes perfect sense, especially his remarks about slugs.

Any Stamford [UK] friends feeling pizza-ish? On 23 May a friend is launching a new enterprise. I've been on the tasting panel and when he says 'authentic' he means it. Epic pizza.
[Also the canine model is my grand-dog, Guillermo.]

An [unsolicited] AI view of the English Civil War... dear lord.

It was almost impossible to write but when there's message like this, absolutely worth it. #coercivecontrol #DomesticAbuseAwareness

This feels like a very good time to post a picture from the inaugural Bring Your Cat to Work Day, c.1906.

I borrowed Milly for a very long walk. I'm worried I've broken her.

Thank you to all the lovely people who offered comfort and wisdom yesterday. Today...

It's not often I catch her in a state of bliss these days [arthritis - hers, not mine] but this is one very happy, very elderly Sodoffskaya.

The swans nest in the same spot every year, although you wouldn't see it if you didn't know it was there. Further downstream were Canada and Greylag geese, mallards, a cormorant, an egret and 2 herons. Happy days. #Rutland

I shall interpret: 'You left me outside in the garden while you went for a 3 hour walk WITH A DOG.'

I would point out that she was dozing amongst the violets in her favourite sunny spot. But, honestly, I don't think she's receptive at the moment. #catlife

Before the administering of a dose of wormer... and after I wrestled her into submission by the crocuses.
We are officially on non-speakers.

To celebrate a sunshiney spring equinox my canine chum, Milly, agreed to join me for an 8 mile yomp through the countryside. Here she is looking for the roe buck that just shot out from the hedge in front of us. We had the most gorgeous time. #rutland #equinox #walking #dogsofbluesky

Walking south off the ridge to make the most of a glorious early spring day.
Old green lanes, new trees, new lambs... Equilibrium restored.
7.5 miles.

At last the sun is above the cottage roof and hitting the top of the washing line. It is officially SPRING. #spring #rutland #goodnews

In the space between bouts of writing I go for long 'thinky' walks and make an occasional offering to the local badgers. When clean hay drops off the trailer I leave it here, at the tradesman's entrance. Monday is usually clean bed day.

Organised creatures, badgers. I like that about them.

Living dangerously today. I mean it could end up somewhere down there in the Chater valley. #rutland

There are 300-ish of these ladies indoors now and the annual muck mountain [eyewateringly pungent even at this early stage] is best approached from upwind with everything covered...
