Yes, me too. I remember suggesting Julius Caesar as it was on the syllabus, and it was performed thrillingly in the very unprepossessing environment of the school hall. Stunning performance.

It ends up sounding paternalistic at best, or patronising. .. especially when it comes from people with social privilege. Or just vague, like 1970s beauty queens.

Very interesting- and yes, agree. The issue is also that there are often a lot of platitudes, such as wanting to ‘change the world’ without any clear articulation of what they want to change, why, and how they will do it.
