We bought Joey a Halloween sweater from Asda & noticed that he was very calm when wearing it. We wondered if it would help him stay calm on Bonfire Night. So we put it on him last night & it’s the best - & cheapest- thundershirt ever. None of usual crazy barking - he was happy all evening! #DogSky

Is there anything more satisfying than blocking a completed needlepoint? Absolutely not imho.

My office this morning. So much easier to work outside in cloudy and cooler weather.

Lovely wedding yesterday but it meant I didn’t sleep at all last night so am having a lazy Sunday afternoon stitching in the garden.
Partly completed William Morris owls needlepoint canvas for a cushion draped over a knee. The design is in shades of blue, grey, cream and olive green. In the background you can see a blurry image of the garden with rose bushes in pots.

Less than 24 hour after getting our new sofa Joey has decided that he prefers the velvet of the sofa to his boring fleecy blanket!

Last night Joey was woken by a fox. I was woken by Joey jumping on my bed. The seagulls nesting in our chimney pots started squawking noisily and attacking the fox to protect their chicks. Joey started barking to deter the seagulls and the fox. Another mostly sleepless summer night in urban Britain.

We made our annual visit to Tulleys Tulip Festival today. It was noticeably less crowded than usual which might have something to do with the steep increase in the ticket price m. Was lovely nevertheless.

Sitting in the garden on a sunny afternoon reading a graphic novel while my guard dog keeps watch - perfect. The book is “Walking Distance” by Lizzy Stewart - highly recommended.
