Biking, I made a water stop at Cleopatra’s Needle, an obelisk erected in Egypt in 1475 BC. It’s actually an ancient form of social media, on which pharaohs posted things like "I built temples & conquered lands & made Egypt great" Ancient boasts similar to the tweets of our country’s ruler today.

Years ago, a jeweler friend began making ornaments. Christmas eggs. Exquisite, made with specially sourced pieces of fabric, ribbons, bits of bling, all invisibly pinned onto styrofoam so they hung with almost no weight. He's been gone 5 years, but art keeps you in the world even after you die.
