In 2009, the federal minimum wage rose to $7.25/hour. The federal poverty level for 1 person was $10830/year. In 2024, minimum wage is $7.25 and the poverty level is $15060. If one makes minimum wage and works full time every week of the year, they now earn $20 more than the poverty level annually.
