And it's not as simple as that. If people want to vote only on immigration, Reform is the better bet. Labour needs to focus on making lives better, providing positive reasons to vote for them. Cynically chasing lowest common denominator politics breeds contempt even in people who agree with them.

The ever increasing gap between what governments promise, what they can do and the costs to everyone of doing it. It's already nasty but I fear there is worse to come.
