Completely agree! Don't know how you've managed to grapple all the data we've generated. So fun. So funny! Looking forward to #Valley101

Now, can he remember the complex whistle patterns to instruct a dragon? It's been a while, and those dragons were much smaller.
He also needs something shiny to offer.
He pats his tunic and feels the shape of his old sledge-hammer, 'Fame'
Nigel nods, takes a deep breath and blows.

Landing in the junk, Nigel spots a whistle.
What he really wants to find is a reassuringly solid ladder. He doesn't trust the rope one. Especially with a dragon about.
He tries the whistle. It's loud.
He's pretty sure the dragon will hear it.

Nigel instantly relaxes.
Deep pits, runaway carts and the occasional dragon are pretty routine when you're a miner.
He goes to slow the cart, but sees that Zephyr has the opposite idea.
"That lever slows you down."
He points, shrugs and gives a thumbs up as he jumps from the cart. [1/3]

"And you just made it up on the spot. So clever."

Nigel realises he's muttering to himself. Maybe he's going mad. He was sure he heard Simon the poet's voice.
Poor Lad. He had so much more to give.
Nigel thinks about problematic long-term structural issues he could cause.
That would show the Baron.

"Liked it? It was beautiful!
And about a sledge-hammer."

Nigel's a straightforward guy who smashes stuff for a living. He's trying to add bribery to his skill set. He's not succeeded.
He began #Valley100 with his favourite sledge-hammer 'Fame', but the handle caught fire while he was rolling a plinth across a cornfield.
Long story.
He's still got the top.

Before climbing through the hatch, Nigel kneels over Belmonts body, face twisted with grief.
He reaches down and picks up what remains of 'Fame' his sledge-hammer.
The burnt handle crumbles in his hands.
He gently tucks the metal hammer head into his tunic.
"We finish this together."

Nigel looks at the patches where the corn has burnt and the floor is visible.
He picks up the key, pushes over the plinth and, rolling it in front of him to clear a path, heads for the widening area of charred floor.
'I've never seen a field in a house before' he muses, watching it burn.

Nigel nods, wipes a hand on his tunic and goes to shake hands.
It feels odd not to be trying to slip in a bribe.
Not that he was always successful. About half the time. Maybe less. Sometimes he dropped it.
Maybe Belmont is trying to bribe him.
He makes it a long handshake just in case.

Nigel realised someone else has made it to the door.
They're holding a spectacular staff.
Awkwardly Nigel holds up his sledge-hammer.
"This is Fame.
Er, and I'm Nigel."
There's a pause.
"Are you covered in wine?"

Walking through the door he passes an air vent and a poster is blown comically across his face.
He peels it off and looks down. "Boom Boom?"
He reads further and is very interested in the incendiary contents "Boom BOOM!" he mutters with determined relish.

Nigel pushes aside the last floor tile, and looks back at the messy winding path he's cleared across the stunning antique banqueting hall floor, with the sense of a job well done.

Between rooms, Nigel has a moment of clarity. It feels like a blessing in dark times.
A memory from long ago rises unbidden:
A catchy song distracts miners in a bar. Young Nigel goes through their bags under the table and finds a small hammer.
He holds it up, smiles, and pockets it.

Looking at the room Nigel remembers the old miners' saying "can't go over it, gotta go under it".
Angling his sledge-hammer, he flips over the first stone floor slab between him and the door.
He nods and flips the next one.
He makes sure to smash a few expensive looking things for Simon.

Nigel looks back as they leave, breathing heavily from the fastest run of his life.
"Simon-tastic?"
He realises no-one else is coming and tightens his grip on his sledge-hammer.
"He said smash things, so that's what we do."
February 7, 2025 at 3:26 PM
Nigel stares at the assistant. "We've got to hit the target? Right then."
He ignores the bow and shoulders his sledge-hammer, heading off into the smoke, muttering, mind on the job, seemingly unaware of the arrows travelling in the same direction.
"Hit it? I'm going to bloody smash it."

Can't believe we all made it!
Can't believe I didn't smash anything...

Here's hoping...
February 5, 2025 at 7:49 AM
Nigel wades through the furniture, pausing to golf swing a few things out of the way with his hammer.
Reaching the door, he runs a hand gently over the surface until...he finds a niche, a weak spot. Grabbing an ornate metal statue, he taps it into the door at an exact and damaging angle.

There is no way I can fail, because my sledgehammer is called 'Fame'!! Yaar!!!
February 4, 2025 at 8:52 PM
Just like that, another one!
Epic n elegant.
I suppose you're also going to tell me you invented it?!
Well!
It's been a while since I was in prison, but let me tell you, this is a different experience.
I never knew mining tools could be poems as well as smashing things.
Just brilliant.

Oh, you could send a poem too.
Simon who's in here with me just wrote one, just like that, all about a hammer. Beautiful stuff.
