I got a copy of the Will of my 3x great-grandfather before the price went up from £1.50 to £16 and now I have more questions than answers! What property did he have on Pontesbury Hill and what other hereditaments?! 🤔 He lived at Bomere Farm near Condover for many years. #genealogy #Shropshire

Yes! My great-grandad was a big union man. He got a 50 years long service award from the Amalgamated Society or Woodworkers - he was industrial secretary for 45 years. He also stood as the workers' candidate in several local elections.

Brompton Oratory. My husband's 2x great-grandfather James Andrew Brophy, an architect and surveyor, "co-operated in the construction" (see husband's great-grandmother's obituary below). I've contacted Brompton Oratory archives but have been unable to find out anything further! #genealogy

There is a record on Find My Past. They have guessed her first name though on the transcription! The record says both of the Parish of Chetwynd.

Until today I knew nothing about my grandparents' wedding in 1931. I've only got one black and white photo of the two of them on the day. Then I found this, describing the colours - and they went to Llandudno on honeymoon, one of my favourite places! I'm so happy! ❤️ #genealogy #FamilyHistory

The grave of Harold Edward Whitfield VC in Oswestry Cemetery. He was awarded the VC for his actions during the Battle of Tell 'Asur. He died in 1956 aged 70 when, cycling home from work, his bicycle was hit from behind by an army Jeep. #Shropshire

I'm sure they would have known my family. Grandad Bob Edwards was a miner at Ifton too, from the age of 14 in 1919 until it closed. Photos are their 40th anniversary in 1975 (Nan was Phyl), and the last day. Grandad in the middle with strap across chest. He was a fireman.

On All Saints' Day here's All Saints' Church, Gobowen #Shropshire. My parents were married here in 1958, I was christened here in 1964 and my maternal grandparents are buried here. The church suffered an arson attack in 1979 and was subsequently rebuilt. #genealogy

#OTD in 1931 my husband's great-aunt Angela - Angela Domitilla Hopkins, married Edward Henry Scudamore-Stanhope, the 12th Earl of Chesterfield, thus becoming the Countess of Chesterfield. She had been an actress, mainly in musical theatre, since she was a child - stage name Angela Hope. #genealogy

F G Buller Swete was managing director of The Old Bank in Oswestry, a founder and treasurer of the Cottage Hospital, treasurer of the Council and a JP. His effects were auctioned off in July 1919 after his death. I'd like to know who got the Turner?! My great-grandad was his coachman. #genealogy

One of the saddest ends in my family tree is that of Fred Barnard, a well-known artist and illustrator of his time, who burned to death on 27 Sept 1896. He illustrated Dickens' works published by Chapman & Hall between 1871-1879 and was my husband's 2nd cousin 3x removed. #genealogy #FamilyHistory
