Please don’t miss the covered passages. They are so delightful! You can find many maps online.

I’ve been riding for decades and I made the same rookie mistake of turning left without looking recently. The situation was flipped-I was on an ebike and they were on a regular bike.
We didn’t crash but I got a mirror after that and now make sure to signal.
Passing cyclists should ring too.

It feels like a million years ago to me.

Decades ago when I first started bike commuting I would often announce “biking has changed my life.” My coworkers made fun of me because I said it so much.
One time my seat got stolen and I thought, “oh, this should be interesting, let’s do this!”💪 Everything about it is fun.

I have a Quickhaul and it’s really great. Not too big.
Even so, if I grab it to go out and I don’t need to carry anything I feel wasteful like I’m hopping in a minivan just to meet someone for coffee.

How about dinner for 10?

I was equally taken by a recent trip to NYC-coming back home to empty nighttime streets made me sad for a while. I walk and bike in Berkeley in the evenings and I’m always wondering, “where is everybody?”
In the 80’s when I was young I swear it was more lively.

MLK and Vine needs some calming. I think drivers are looking ahead at the lights in either direction and not paying attention to what’s in front of them.

I was pleasantly surprised to discover the same. It’s actually quite comfortable in the heat.

I know for a fact that those same folks thought their vote mattered in 1969, when they were just out of college and settling in Berkeley.

You should get one!

Same.

Oh That looks so fun!

I smell latkes! I help strangers find their dropped/lost things, corral escaped pets. I can pull over to look at gardens, paint colors, smile and wave at people, kids. I arrive energized and refreshed rather than needing to recover from traffic and parking despair.

I don’t even know what my horn sounds like. I would like it if people with anger issues could be excluded from being allowed to drive. I don’t know how, but it would be great.

Besides the QuickHaul, I have the Turbo Vado sl. It’s very, very light (32 lbs) and can do hills no problem. But it’s really not suitable for carrying groceries up hills. It’s hard to find one bike that meets all the desires, that’s why I ended up with two.

I have the Tern Quickhaul P9. Entry level price, full sized motor, carries a lot, class 3. It is a workhorse but still fairly compact. The Vektron is very similar but I really wanted class 3.

Some people need to slow down, but some of us need to speed up!

Is this a humble brag? Making a crochet bear is bigger than anything I did this year.

I read this article too and my first thought was to share it on Nextdoor so that our “progressive” neighbors that are against bike lanes can really see which camp they are aligned with.

Berkeley has changed a lot in the 50+years I’ve been here, some for better some for worse.
But it has always been great for walks and bike rides while admiring all the beauty.
Farmer’s markets, Tilden, too many restaurants to list.

I watched 2 cyclists and one e-scooter safely pass the wheelchair by using cutouts and then coming back into the lane. It was perfect. So wide is nice but not needed, imo.
I thought I took a video but somehow it didn’t work.

I have seen several folks in electric wheelchairs using the protected bike lane on Milvia. Hopkins lanes would offer a great way to get to amenities with a wheelchair or other mobility device. I saw a mobility scooter parked outside Monterey Market recently. It’s such a nice way to get around!
