Have you played with mods at all? Not disagreeing that the game is perfect but there was also quite a bit of design space left to explore, including features Klei scrapped for being too punishing

Too true
Yes it's cartoonish you can't tie up KO'd guards and they wake up in a few turns no matter what you do, but it adds so much!!!!
I can't really go back to regular stealth games anymore because the deflating tension once you've knocked out half the map is just... meh

26. Dread Pilots

I have a lot of time for Klei, they made a lot of great games with a fantastic visual style like Griftlands and Invisible Inc. and I'm digging the vibe of this one too. Giving my slight Sunless Seas vibes, so a Klei take on that is tempting.

I truly believe Invisible Inc. one of the best-designed games in existence and one of top five stealth games ever.

But it's a blend of stealth, TBS and roguelike (already pretty niche genres that a lot of people just plain don't enjoy). Result: few people will click with it even if they do try it

I remember that video, it was entertaining and a little sad. Bless Austin for trying.

I think visibility is one aspect but a bigger problem is that the GOTY format implicitly punishes games with a niche audience.

Invisible Inc. has some missing features on Steam Deck AFAIK, so while it's playable, it wouldn't be my first recommendation for someone trying out the game for the first time
