Autistic and quadriplegic, but doing okay.
Only the most idle of collections, but I found an almost perfect gray fox skull a while back

Here’s a couple of rad lizards I saw.

Trail cat!

I love finding a friendly kitty while on a ride

Gray fox skull. Found in Napa, Ca.

I’m always forgetting to post, just having occasional periods of dropping off the face of the earth. But here’s Cassidy, bein’ a good loaf

This is a partially-serpentinized Harzburgite peridotite I found near my house. It used to be part of the upper mantle before it was shoved over the top of the continental margin!

Ultramafics are so cool

Fuel reduction means you gotta take out some big ones sometimes. I’m fighting back at least 20 years of overgrowth here.

We do get to appreciate the immense manzanita behind it now.

There are baby turkeys about!

Did you know that galliform chicks are called poults?

No real comment, just Nature doing its thing. Probably a turkey hen. Might have been a coyote, but it seems really clean for that. Red-Tailed Hawk, maybe; there were stripped feathers everywhere. That’s a really big haul for a Red-Tail though

The spider was still there this morning! I put it out on the rock wall. It can either hide there or get eaten by lizards. Both are likely

Calisoga longitarsus. I guess they call them false tarantulas too? A somewhat distressingly large spider to find in your garage.

I’m just so tired of ICEs as a concept. So many goos and fluids to change. When you’ve experienced a BEV, this greasy box of explosions seems so primitive.

Back on my bullshit again. This time it’s the fence line. Truly an absurd amount of biomass from all the cleared brush

June’s doing great. Everything back to normal, except for the shaved leg (not visible in this picture)
April 26, 2025 at 5:18 AM
More random deer bones. I should build an ossuary
April 25, 2025 at 12:38 AM
They are very well composed.

Here’s these two, also closer than they usually get
April 17, 2025 at 3:50 AM
Okay, blackberries, this is all I’m gonna clear. But know ye this: I ain’t afraid of you. You persist only by my mercy and by the bounty of your harvest. You are invasive as fuck, and I actually do have the power to control you.

…now to work on the patch under the Leaning Oak…

June had surgery yesterday to repair a torn ACL. I wish I could tell her it’s going to get better and this will spare her so much pain in the future, but right now she’s scared and hurt and that’s all she knows and it’s heartbreaking.

But she’s home and safe so things are looking up for her.

Saw an alligator lizard the other day. The really don’t like to move, so you can get a nice picture.
March 7, 2025 at 3:27 AM
Found an owl pellet today! It’s got a frikkin’ SKULL in it!

I always feel kinda guilty doing a little burn. It always feels like a bad look, given how we live with fire these days in California.

Has to be done though, and it does feel really good to clean up all the brush piles that have been sitting around since last summer.

Such a graceful and dignified creature.
January 9, 2025 at 1:43 AM
Little guy on the tool handle while I was doing some yard work. I love jumping spiders.
January 8, 2025 at 5:17 AM
Would ya look at that. Its never just a fuse!
