Powell became Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System on February 5, 2018. He was first nominated by President Donald Trump and confirmed by the Senate.

@olbermann.bsky.social I'm wondering how this actually matters. Why? Let's say a judge actually goes the step to finally hold people in contempt and jails them. Trump will just pardon them on the spot, so I don't really know if this loss is really meaningful.

I love that Trump clearly thinks we're all morons by trying to claim it's for the Defense Department when, in reality, he's taking it with him when he leaves. Donnie, we are not your supporters. We actually understand your grift no matter how you package it.

The problem with this is that Trump would pardon Miller 8 seconds after he's issued with this.

My wife was planning on getting me 250 of the best -- they're like nothing we've ever seen before -- pencils for my birthday, but now I have to make due with a measly five? I'm gonna have to drop my Sudoku hobby.

I really wish Canada could handle saying, "Oh, you don't need our energy?" Then shut it all down for week just to shut our idiot leader up.

One or more of these other leaders have to take him behind the scenes and explain to him that he flat-out has no concept of how trade works.

I am continually amazed at reality that so many in the US think this guy sounds and acts like a leader. None of these same people would tolerate their own children behaving like he does.

Carney made him look like a petulant child wanting desperately to ignore his parents. So, in other words, Carney just showed him a mirror.

Keith, Penn should do two things NOW: 1) Release Trump's transcripts, 2) Respond by telling Trump that they do not accept threats from dictators, especially those that barely managed to show up for class and barely graduated (which we're pretty sure the records will show). He will explode.

Penn should do two things: 1) Release Trump's transcripts 2) Put out a statement that says they don't take unlawful orders, especially from someone that barely made it through school there. I'm almost certain he likely has a ton of missed time and a lousy GPA. It's time to fight stupidity with fire.

Exactly. There are many people that you don't meet with because they're beyond reprehensible and Trump is one of those people. Talk to your MAGA neighbors, but you don't need to talk to the cult leader.

There are SOME people you do not grant your time to. This man is renditioning people, ignoring law, thumbing his nose at our invaluable allies. On and on and on and on. You do not give people like that a platform or an audience. That he did is patently offensive. Thank you Josh Rogin.
