While out looking for snowy owls the other day, I came across this guy crossing a snow covered field. He wasn't in a hurry, stopping every now and then to look around maybe deciding where he wanted to go. Taken In Central Alberta. Jan 2026.

This Mom had her paws full with at least 5 kits to look after. I hope you watch it all as the little one at the end was super excited to see Mom. #foxesofinstagram #albertawildlife #albertawildlifephotographer #simplycapturedphotography

It was getting late and Jasper and I were heading back down the trail to the car.The sky had beautiful colours and I turned around for a last look.Sitting up on one of the bushes was a lone Short Eared Owl. Of course I had to hurry back as close as I could without spooking it for a photo.Perfect!

The other day I posted this female Snowy Owl flying away. This shows her out in the field and it is zoomed in with a 600m lens and 1.4 extender. Also photos as she was doing a yawn and stretch. I wish I had taken a photo not zoomed in and will try to do that in the future! Taken in Central Alberta.

I love it when a Norther Flickr stops by the yard to have a drink and take some time to straighten out the feathers. #albertabirds #wildlifephotographer #wildlifephotography

Another snow day today. So how about another Snowy Owl Photo! This female was way out in the field and if I hadn't seen her land there I may not have found her. She sat out there for a long time before deciding to fly to another field. #snowyowl #wildlifephotographer #albertabirds #albertawildlife

Here are four of the moose I saw all together eating the willows. There was one possibly two more but they were further into the brush and I could not get a photo of them. #moose #nikonz6iii #wildlifephotography #albertawildlifephotography #albertawildlife #wildlifephotographer

One Friday I went for a drive and came across at least 5 moose in the willows eating. There were 3 bulls and 2 females that I could see but I think there was another one further into the brush. These two were the closest to get on video. #moose #wildlifephotography #albertawildlife

It was one of those beautiful days that photographers dream of. Two Snowy owls that day but this one was not interested. This photo is cropped and a long way off, but you can see how the beautiful male stands out.We thanked him for the opportunity and moved on to let him get on with his hunt for food

It was a very windy day and I had walked to the end of the trail to photograph swans and geese leaving Big Lake. Walking back to the vehicle I saw something that looked out of place on the top of the spruce tree. It was a Great Horned Owl hanging on as the trees swayed in the wind. Enjoy!

You never know what you will see if you just get out there and look.

I went to the Orchid show at the Enjoy Centre this past weekend to see something beautiful in what sometimes seems like a cold and nasty world. Orchids come in all kinds of colours, different shapes and sizes, and are so pretty. #orchids, #enjoycentre

Two of these Pileated Woodpeckers were around in our backyard the other day but I was only able to get this photo of the female. They helped themselves to some food and water and then flew away. Hope they come back again.
