Some good news for New Mexicans. During the recent special session, the state legislature passed funding bills to protect food security and healthcare, including funding specifically for ACA exchange enrollees impacted by potential expiring federal tax credits.
Sure enough, the bill has since passed the NM Senate and has been signed into law by Gov. Lujan-Grisham. This means that ALL NEW MEXICO ACA EXCHANGE ENROLLEES WILL BE PROTECTED FROM THE EXPIRING FEDERAL TAX CREDITS.

People parrot the media who are already minimizing the violence targeted toward Black people by ICE currently being perpetrated in Chicago. "They were released right away." But not before their children were terrorized and their homes were destroyed.
The media normalization in the United States should not reassure you. If things were as bad as possible, the media would be afraid to say it. If things were as bad as possible, it simply rationally follows that the media would pretend that they are normal. **The fact that the media, the universities, and the courts are pretending things are not as bad as they seem is exactly what would happen if things were as bad as they seem.** (**Text italicized by the author for emphasis.)

Think you won't be impacted because you have private insurance? Think again. Medicaid cuts will have far-reaching consequences, including driving up everyone's costs. When you vote for harm reduction, you are voting to benefit everyone not just yourself.

Another issue is the potential for Republicans’ cuts to drive up the cost of healthcare for Americans who are privately insured, including through employers. As hospitals fight to survive, they will try to extract as much money as possible from other sources of funding – namely, commercial insurance.

If you feel like you're taking crazy pills after hearing everyone blame Biden for Trump, you should read this piece. Dems have a tough road ahead b/c white Americans are "bigoted, distracted, misinformed, and uninformed." Persuading them to vote for Dem. policies will require an intervention.
Savvy messaging, slick re-branding, and smart campaign tactics can move things around the margins, but so long as America has such a high concentration of bigoted, distracted, misinformed, and uninformed voters, expect one close election (and many gravely disappointing ones) after another. We have met the enemy, and he is us.

The House Budget Committee moved the tax-cut bill forward while the rest of us were sending get well wishes to President Biden. This time with deeper cuts.
