thanks microsoft 👍

protip: backup your shiet and then uninstall onedrive. also keep your important files in non standard folders (i.e dont put important pictures into the windows designated "Pictures" folder. put them into a new folder)

hard disagree. the dev can be an absolute POS at times, but his work is excellent. too excellent. i don't think anybody could replace the work he does. he no-lifes that shit way too hard, and hyprland is quite literally based on his own compositor lib, so like... no. that's fucking impossible lmao

idk about the audio issues but nvidia drivers are far from perfect on linux, especially on wayland

I won't speak on MacOS because I've never used it, nor do I own any apple computers.

ok rant over, here's a free wall of text for you all :)

I PERSONALLY don't have any of these issues, because I:
- Use an Intel Arc card (excellent drivers on linux)
- Don't use a lot of complex software (most of my computer usage is playing video games and web browsing)
- Have been using linux daily for 4 years (the general bs is normal to me now)

You might have good luck getting a piece of software to work consistently by using distrobox, but at that point you're venturing into advanced user bullshit, and unless you're like me and have unlimited freetime, it's just not worth it.

If you use a halfway complex piece of software via wine (i.e literally any daw) you will undoubtedly come across breakage and/or really bad latency issues. If a large amount of the software you use is windows only, or just works far better on windows than on linux, you might not want to use linux.

Nvidia drivers are a major source of headache for the common linux user. Nvidia's drivers LOVE to break on kernel updates for no apparent reason, and they can cause issues on wayland (which IS getting better, mind you.) So if you have Nvidia drivers, you might experience semi-regular bricks :)))))))

Hi, daily driver of linux here.

It's definitely possible to daily drive linux without wanting to tear your eyes out. However, when you start venturing into areas where one package update can break everything, it does become absolutely fucking impossible.

"hard decision" ITS A FUCKING TERMINAL EMULATOR WHAT DO YOU MEAN
November 23, 2024 at 7:07 AM
but i still prefer bash overall because it's easier to use
November 23, 2024 at 6:56 AM
you can execute binaries on powershell too. powershell has direct access to various aspects of the windows api directly. objectively, powershell in windows is more powerful than bash in linux. you don't need to compile an entire exectutable just to be able to get access to an api call in powershell
