What the hell is rgg doing lmao. Now I’m really dreading how they’re inevitably going to tie Stranger Than Heaven into this mess. I guess my headcanon of the mysterious protag being Makoto Tojo is not to the standards of their story writers.

One of my favorites is Hybrid Heaven, a game by Konami, with a kind of "we have Metal Gear Solid at home" type of vibe. It's a turn-based brawler, where you learn new fighting moves from enemies by getting hit by those moves, and each of your body parts have separate stats. Heartily recommended.

Also while Judgment games have very little crossover to main series, Lost Judgment does spoil a big plot point from 7. As for timeline, first Judgment is between 6 and 7, and Lost Judgment after 7.

I’d argue play gaiden after Yakuza 7, since gaiden otherwise spoils some plot points. Pirate Majima also spoils/further develops a couple of things from Infinite Wealth. Ishin isn’t really connected but due to certain things, I’d recommend playing the mainline games up to and including 7.

Use lock on, bait him to attack, sidestep and punch him from the side or back. Short combos, maybe 2 or 3 punches + finisher. Use Rush style, if you have trouble dodging. If all else fails, go back to previous save and buy inventory full of energy drinks.

Pirate Yakuza is a fairly direct continuation of the story of Infinite Wealth, and it’ll spoil some major plot points from IW. If you’re fine with that, then sure. However, IW is a fine game of its own though, and highly recommended.
